Description

The 3 + person Walkabout 62 is a top of the line Roof Top Tent made to last for years

The Walkabout series tents are easy to mount. The base is constructed with an alloy frame, and all metal moving parts it’s attached to an insulated floor designed for years of comfort and use.

The 280GSM Ripstop Polycotton Canvas with LST (light suppression technology) blocks over 90% of sunlight so you can enjoy a great nights sleep and wake when you decide – not as soon as the sun rises. This fabric will keep you dry and when the tent is in full sun and it reduces the internal temperature by up to 20%. The extension over the telescoping ladder keeps you covered when exiting the tent while still leaving room for the optional annex. The extension hoop is attached to the tent and utilizes a lever lock to adjust and attach to the snow pole to keep tension with minimal pooling, even in heavy rain.

The attention to detail is what really makes a difference ,with features such as reinforced stitching or “bar tacks” at key points such as the fly attachment points and the double layer window toggles. There is no foreign material on seam joins so as not to introduce a possible water ingress point, this is also tape seam sealed to ensure its waterproof.  The hinge point outer cover has been enlarged and reinforced and an internal cover added as well to keep out the weather and bugs. The front and rear doors that cover the zipper are weighted to reduce them flapping about when unzipped.  Select models offer you a choice of annex height to match your vehicle’s mounting position. You can even view the cosmos in all its glory by unclipping the rain fly and staring through the sky view windows before drifting off to sleep.

1 review for Walkabout™ 62 Queen Bed Roof top tent with Light Suppression Technology

I recently got the 23 ZERO Canada Walkabout62 RoofTop Tent.

Delivery – the tent was delivered very well packaged in a stand up box, on top of a pallet with 2x large empty boxes on each side for protection. They also put a large photo of what the package looked like when it left them taped to the outside of the box which is great idea as you can easily compare the box to the photo for damage.

Install was easy for me as i was at a automotive garage and had around 5 people helping me. You will want to do the unpackaging in a large dry area with cardboard down as you do need to lay it on the ground and open it up to install the rails. Once unpacakaged the rails need to be installed via 3 bolts each that go underneath the mattress. Once the rails are on it needs to be closed up and carried to the car to be installed. I simply placed the tent right on top of my racks and did up the bolts 1 by 1. Take care to ensure it is straight before really tightening them down. I put white paint dots on the outside of the racks just to see if slides on the roof at all ( it hasn’t so far ).

Setup for this is very easy and take around 10 minutes with 1x person. It flips open, and is help up by the ladder. The windows are held open each by metal rods and there is a extra bracing in the entrance to help with structure and rigidity.

Sleeping – I have slept in this for 5 nights so far in winter conditions. Night was 0 degrees and I had a Wolly Mammoth Blanket and a sleeping bag good for 4 degree. I found the tent to be very conformable with the 3″ foam mattress and i had no issues with being cold. The tent keeps out all of the wind and a lot of light if the windows are closed and lets in all of the light when you open all the windows. The rain fly held up to a massive clump a snow falling from a free about 30m above and i easily brushed off the snow the next morning before putting the tent away.
Notes – I went from having a Yakima Megawarrior to this and to be honest i have not noticed much more wind noise. The materials and stitching seem to be very high quality and i did a very good look over before install and didn’t find any blemishes or tear or stitching coming undone
    Overall – 9.5/10
